Kalyagin Alexander Aleksandrovich is the national actor of RSFSR, the winner of the State awards of the USSR. He is awarded by awards: “an honor Sign” (1985), “For merits before Fatherland of” 4th degree” (2002), 3rd degrees (2007). In 2001 he is awarded by the Gold Medal “Social recognition”; in 2005 by results of Open annual All-Russia competition“Leader of year” Alexander Aleksandrovich is recognized by the best public figure; in 2006 he is handed over the award of Union State of Russia and Belarus in the field of the literature and art. In 1996 became the Chairman of the Union of theatrical figures of Russia, since 2001 he is the councilor on culture and art at the President of the Russian Federation; in 2005 he became a part of Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and also Kalyagin headed the Commission concerning culture development.

He was born on May, 25th 1942, in settlement Malmyzh, the Kirov region.
Alexander Aleksandrovich has ended medical school №14. Then he worked as the medical assistant on First aid. Later he has finished Theatrical school of B. V. Schukin (HIGH SCHOOL). Began the career at theatre on Taganke, then worked at Theatre of M. N. Ermolovoj, he has been invited in “Sovremennik” by O. N. Efremov. And then Kalyagin with Efremov haveleft in MKhAT where they has worked about 30 years.
Kalyagin has worked with outstanding directors: O. N. Efremov, A. V. Efros, J. P. Ljubimov, K. M. Ginkas, P. N. Fomenko etc.
Excellent was his career of the actor and at cinema. He acted in films of Abram Room, Michael Schweitzer, Nikita Mikhalkov and many other well-known Russian directors.
The role of Chekhovian Platonov in Nikita Mikhalkov’s film “the Not terminated play for the mechanical piano” has brought to Alexander Kalyagin glory and a recognition not only in the USSR but also abroad.
It has been awarded to a film the Main Prize of the International festival in the Dignity-Sebastian (Spain) and also the featured actor was awarded by the Award for Best Actor the International festival in Colombia. Besides in 1979 A. Kalyagin has been recognized by the best actor of year.
Kalyagin is the remarkable theatrical teacher. He has let out in 1990 talented course at MKhAT School-studio, then Alexander Aleksandrovich taught at the International school of a theatrical art of A. Chehov (Zurich, Switzerland, 1989–1991), the Britania-American school of drama art (ВАОА, Oxford, England; 1990–1993) and Chekhovian school of a theatrical art (Paris, France; 1992–1995) where, as well as in Zurich, he gave a master class together with Anastasiej Vertinsky.
In 1992 Kalyagin Alexander Aleksandrovich has created the theatre “Еt cetera”. Today it is one of the best and popular Moscow theatres.
It won love of spectators and interest of professionals. The theatre goes on tour much, participates in the international and Russian theatrical festivals. To open new plays, names of playwrights, to invite talented directors — such is a principle of the art director which and represents itself as the director: “Foreverforever” K. Dragunskaya, “the Doctor necessarily” Z. B. Moler, “Persons” A. P. Chekhov “to Suppress and raise” M. Kurochkin. In 2005 to the theatre had been built a unique new building on the Tourist’s Genevsky area by the Government of Moscow.

Shakespeare) and Krepp (“Last record of Krepp” With Bekketa, the award “Hit of the season”) in Robert Sturua, Quixote performances (for this role Kalyagin has been awarded awards of television theatrical festival “Seagull” and the award of the Government of Moscow), Dad Ubju in performance “King Ubju” (the national award “Gold Mask”) directed by Alexander Morfova, Varravin in performance of Oskarasa Korshunovasa “Death of Tarelkin” and a confessionary role of the Good actor in performance “to Suppress and raise”.
In 1996 the theatrical public of the country selects A. A. Kalyagin as a chairman of STD the Russian Federation. During his management STD initiated carrying out of many major forums on problems of theatre life of Russia. STD is the founder of the largest and most authoritative theatrical festival of the country “Gold Mask”. Under the direction of STD has been created the working group which has prepared acceptance by the Government of the Russian Federation of the Decision “About the state support of a theatrical art in the Russian Federation”, “the Law on theatre and theatrical activity in the Russian Federation” , Conference of directors of Russia is spent. STD the Russian Federation became the initiator of creation of the Center of support of Russian theatres abroad which successfully worked under patronage of the President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin and today continues to carry out the major activity on advancement of Russian culture abroad.
