Tuleyev Aman Gumirovich (Aman-Geldi Moldagazievich) is a governor of Kemerovo region in Russia. He was born in May 13, 1944 in Krasnovodsk.
Tuleyev was born of Kazakh father and Tatar mother.
He worked as a switchman at the railway station Krasnodar -1. In 1961 he entered technical railway secondary school and graduated it with honours.
Then he went to Siberia, to the railway settlement Bundibash in Kemerovo region. There he worked as assistant station-master. After that he served in the field engineer company in the military district of Trans-Baikal. His military profession is sapper. After three years he came back to Bundibash at his first place of work. In 1969 he became Bundibash’s stationmaster of west Siberian railway.
Some years later he graduated from Novosibirsk’s engineers institute of rail transport and started to work as stationmaster in Mezhdurechensk.
In 1978 Aman Gumirovich worked in Novokuzneck as deputy and later as head of Novokuzneck department of the railway in Kemerovo. In 1985 he became a branch manager of transports and communications in regional committee party in Kemerovo.
In 1988 Aman Gumirovich Tuleyev graduated from Academy of Sciences and became a head of railway in Kemerovo, one of the most biggest in Soviet Union.
In 1990 Aman Gumirovich was selected as deputy in Soviet of People’s Deputies in Kemerovo region in Supreme Soviet RSFSR in national region in Gorno-Shorsk.
He ran for President of Russia in 1991, 1996 (withdrawing during the campaign) and 2000, both times coming fourth.
From March 1994 to July 1996 Aman Gumirovich was at the head of general court in Kemerovo region.
From 22 of August, 1966 to 30 of June, 1997 Aman Gumirovich was a member of Russian Federation government, a minister of Russian Federation on cooperation with the states, participants Commonwealth of Independent States.
From August 1996 to June 1997 he was a Russian minister responsible for relations with the CIS. In this capacity, he proposed plans for a union between Russia and Belarus.
In July 1999, it was rumoured that he had accepted baptism in the Russian Orthodox Church. Although he denied being religious at all and claimed that an earlier visit to Mecca was not a pilgrimage, the Islamic Shura of Chechnya, under Sharia law, condemned him to death for apostasy.
His honesty, decency, sharp mind and professionalism made him head of Administration in Kemerovo region in 1997. In 2001 he became a governor of Kemerovo region. In 2005 V.V Putin delegated him authority to be the governor of Kemerovo region for five years. He is the party member of “United Russia”.
All activity of Aman Gumirovich as governor of Kemerovo region is devoted to increase of a standard of life of Kuznetsk Basin’s people and to make economic situation in the region more better. His diligence and his talent of organization earned him immense prestige among people in Kemerovo region. Aman Gumirovich is a honorary citizen in Kemerovo region, in Novokuzneck, in Mezhdurechensk and in Tashtagol.
Aman Gumirovich has more than 20 medals.
Among them are: the order “Polar Star”, the order of republic Belarus Freindship, the highest order in Ukraine — Yaroslav the sage of the 5 degree, the order “Friendship”, the order “Justice”.
For the big personal contribution to development and strengthening of military cooperation of states — participants of Commonwealth of Independent States and for effected hostage’s release in 1997, for prevention of two terrorist acts in 1999, for resolution at antiterrorist operation in 2003 Aman Gumirovich was honored three pistols of Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Defense in Russian Federation and Russian Federation government.
Aman Gumirovich is involved in scientific works.
He wrote many books and booklets. In 2000 he defended a thesis : “Leadership: regional specific and mechanism of realization”. He is the Doctor of politic. He also is a honorary professor in Ulan- Batorsk university Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
He is married. His wife, Elvira Fedorovna, worked together with her husband on the railway, now she is on the deserved rest. Elvira Fedorovna and Aman Gumirovich have grown up two sons — Dmitriu and Andrew, younger son Andrew died in the car accident in May, 1998.
Aman Gumirovich’s hobbies include mushroom gathering, langlaufing, driving a snowmobile and taking Russian baths. His working day lasts from 8 o’clock in the morning till 10 o’clock in the evening. As a rule, Saturday is the working day. The best rest for Aman Gumirovich are trips on the nature, picking mushrooms and in winter he likes ski. Moreover he likes poetry.
He prefers to celebrate holidays with his family.
